Program

Jan Maršák is a graduate of the PhD programme at the Faculty of Environmental Technology of the University of Chemical Technology in Prague and the Faculty of Political Science/Sociology at the Faculty of Social Studies of Masaryk University in Brno.

Since 2003, he has been working at the Ministry of the Environment (MoE) in various positions, and is currently the Director of the Waste Department of the MoE. His professional activities focus on European legislation for waste and circular management, waste and circular management strategies of the Czech Republic, waste and circular management legislation of the Czech Republic. He is responsible for the preparation of new legislation for waste, packaging and single-use plastics. He publishes professional articles mainly on waste and circular management issues.

 After graduating from high school, she studied law in Osnabrück and Strasbourg, France.
Since 2015 she has been project manager of the "Central Office" project for the Federal Association of the German Food Industry, the Association of the Plastic Packaging Industry, the German Trade Association, the Brand Association (since January 2015) and then Managing Director of the BHIM Central Valuable Materials Project GmbH (since September 2015). In 2017 she was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Central Packaging Register.

Iva Werbynská is Director of the SYBA Packaging Institute, which provides expert advice on legislation and innovation in the packaging industry. Under her leadership, the institute actively promotes sustainability, circularity and correct labelling of packaging, helps companies navigate European regulations and organises the prestigious Packaging of the Year competition. Her work also includes a comparison of international packaging legislation in the context of promoting food chain safety, a key area for sustainable development and environmental protection.

Iva helps to navigate packaging legislation and, on this basis, proposes legislatively sound packaging solutions. She supports manufacturers of packaged goods in finding the ideal packaging for their products. She also deals with the correct labelling of packaging, which is essential for meeting regulatory requirements and informing consumers. It facilitates orientation in packaging competitions and in the packaging market, thus making a significant contribution to improving quality and innovation in this dynamic sector.

Her PhD studies focus on the development of new biodegradable films and methods to determine their degradation rates.
